Everything about it is just amazing, but what really impressed me was the generations and the aging process, and also the much more detailed create-a-Sim choices. After a little bit (okay, a lot) of hassle with upgrading my computer with memory and graphic cards and what not, I started playing, and it was way hard to stop. If you liked the first Sims, then you should definitely get this (although maybe only if you have a mac, since the mac version doesn't cost $123 lol). This game is one of the best I've played, and I'm picky. I adored the original Sims, and when this came out I bought it as soon as I could.
Not some unfinished product. Unfortunately, the best is still sims 2. In sims 3, it feels like you are transported back into time playing sims 1, especially since the graphics of the sims look a bit flat and not so much 3D. What I love about sims 2 is that I now feel that my sims are more personal and realistic. Unless, some game company introduces competition. Sims 3 is targeted for the 16-24 year olds with short attention spans. My favorite thing in sims 1 was the superstar expansion. It lacks the depth and special features that we enjoyed in sims 1 & 2.
This is definitely an upgrade from it's predecessor, The Sims. With sims 3, you're forced with very limited custom content so if you want more CC, EA wants you to buy from their online store, which I think is a rip off. That's my only gripe about sims 2. As a sim fan, I expected an upgrade full of depth and worth the fifty bucks. What I hate about sims 3 is that it has many great ideas, but has also taken a lot of step backwards from what loyal fans loved about sims 1 & 2. EA wanted to draw in die-hard gamers who found the sims time consuming and tediously boring. From what we enjoyed in sims 1 is transferred into sims 2. It has made the sims franchise into a successful game.
it will force EA to not be greedy and tune out a better quality upgrade of the sims 3, MAKING IT WORTHY of sims 1 & 2 combined. EA is turning out to have a reputation as greedy bastards. In sims 2, I can create more realistic looking sims using custom content that is available in the sims community for free. I would also have been on the cheering squad for sims 3 if they had successfully made a greater game than sims 2. Sims 3 is a flashy game full of gimmicks that get tiring and boring.
In the end, I wish another gamer company gave EA competition in the simulation genre. seriously, if it's better than sims 2, I'm jumping ship and saying goodbye EA. This will make me think twice before buying another game from EA, especially if there is a sims 4 in the next 5-10 years. Unfortunately, this doesn't transfer as successfully into sims 3. Tuning out expansions after expansions.
The only negative I can think about sims 2 is that it had no superstar features. It's a mini game. Well, EA, good job with that cause you're going to isolate the longtime simmers, who can see that sims 3 as a hollow game, with no depth.
If you have a lot of programs on your PC, the game may become so slow that it is unplayable, because of all the stuff on the game. I am not a gamer, but this game definitely catches my attention. I just purchased a new one from Amazon because I lost my other one - and I am not really one to spend money on something twice. But it is so much fun. I love it. The only problem I've had besides a few bugs that can be annoying but to me aren't a big deal, is the game works very slow on some computers.
I would definatley reccommend. This game is amazing compared with Sims 1. The game play is much more realistic and you can modify your sims alot better.
There's complex genetics which is completely fascinating, especially when you factor in the alien beings. The potential for storytelling is tremendous. Well, The Sims 2 takes all of the good things about The Sims 1 and then adds a whole bunch more good things to totally blow me away.
Best of all, characters can be related to each other, so you can set them up from the beginning as spouses, siblings, cousins, etc. This is the best video game in the history of the world as far as I'm concerned. and they will interact with each other differently from if they were not related.
The Sims 1 was tied with Phantasy Star Online as my favorite video game of all time. The flexibility of friends, roommates, getting engaged and married or separated, broken up or divorced is great. Five thousand stars.
There are now toddlers, teenagers and elders. The graphics are MUCH better and you can view close or far from all angles.
